How to in stall desktop 184 pin memory e -machine ??


If it is the right type of memory, open the case, keep one hand on the case and pick up the memory or remove from static wrap. There should be two slots the length of the memory chips on the motherboard. If there is memory in the slots there are small plastic/metal tabs on the edges that can be gently pried back to release them. The chip will flip to one side. Pull it out the angle. Insert the new chipset and make sure it is bottomed out. Rotate up to the lock position and let the tabs click into the edge. Put the cover back on and power up. You might need to go into the bios to make some changes for amount of memory.

DESKTOP CPU/RAM EXPERTS: HELP!?
I am very confused about what to look for when buying ram for my computer. First off, I have done crucial scans(always failed to FULLY scan my cpu), cpu-id scans, etc... and I still don't know which ram to buy whenever I'm in places like BestBuy or Future Shop. My maximum ram capacity is about 1gb. Right now I have 2 sticks of 256mb PC 2100(133MHz) DDR/ DDR SDRAM installed. Is DDR and DDR SDRAM the same? Okay so my computer runs DDR/ DDR SDRAM and the ram is pc2100. If I'm correct, the PCXXXX is the speed of the ram? And I would have to buy a DDR/DDR SDRAM for my comp to read ram? So would a DDR PC3200 1gb ram stick work on my computer? Would the PCXXXX/MHz matter when I'm buying ram? These questions prevent me from buying ram! Help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks! Is DDR and DDR SDRAM the same? Yes So would a DDR PC3200 1gb ram stick work on my computer? Yes Would the PCXXXX/MHz matter when I'm buying ram? No, the higher the better. But your computer might not support higher speeds. This is not a problem, as your computer will just utilise as much as it can.

I have checked a couple of sources and am not finding that you need ECC memory, which the above is. If you leave any original memory and add the ecc you will not benefit from the additional function. Normally the ECC memory is more expensive. So if the system does not require it I would not recommend you purchase it. You have 4 slots and 4 GB max. You will want to add 2 like modules so you can take advantage of Dual Channel (better performance).
